Alison

Middle School Student

Alison is a middle school student at Tennessee Connections Academy. She and her family became seriously interested in enrolling when her bricks-and-mortar public school started returning to in-person learning during COVID-19. Here is Alison’s story:

Why We Chose Tennessee Connections Academy

Early in the pandemic, the local public school moved to a virtual learning platform and my experience with online learning had been very positive. My family and I weren’t ready for me to return to school in-person, so we decided to continue my education online until the pandemic was under control.

Tennessee Connections Academy is different from traditional public school, mainly because everything is offered online and I’m able to manage my time and work on school subjects with greater flexibility. Also, my mom—who is my Learning Coach—is much more involved in my day-to-day learning.

I love Connections Academy because its flexibility allows me to manage my time, and because the teachers are amazing!

Teachers Who Are Caring and Committed

I have good relationships with my teachers. They’re patient and always willing to help. They respond to emails right away and want to make sure I understand the course material.

My favorite subject is global studies, and my favorite experience has been the global studies field trip around the world. I like learning about different people, cultures, and time periods. One of my passions in life is horses and horseback riding. The flexibility of Connections Academy® makes it easy for me to participate in this activity.
