Why I Became a Teacher

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a teacher. As I got older and had so many exceptional teachers, I had a desire to give back to kids the way my teachers blessed me. I wanted kids to know that someone believes in them and wanted to help them to be successful at whatever they set their minds to.

I enjoy using my educational background to help kids succeed—no matter how old they are or where I encounter them.

The Online School Experience at Oklahoma Connections Academy

I love teaching at Oklahoma Connections Academy because it feels like one big family. You’ll find a group of educators who are passionate about each of their students, and who are willing to go above and beyond to help them succeed. I love how connected I am with my students and their Learning Coaches.

Employers love employees who are self-starters, great communicators, responsible, manage their time well, but can also be flexible. Oklahoma Connections Academy students, no matter their grade level, can develop these skills. After my daughter’s first year with Oklahoma Connections Academy, I knew I had found the spot where she would be prepared for her future.

The Benefits of K-12 Online Learning

One of the benefits of teaching at Oklahoma Connections Academy is that I can get to know the students on a more personal level. I love that we can have one-on-one time, and I encourage my students to be all that they can be. I enjoy our many field trips where I can interact with students and their families.

I love that we can have one-on-one time, and I encourage my students to be all that they can be.

Message for Families Considering Online School

Something new can sometimes be scary, but when you enroll your child at Oklahoma Connections Academy, you will find highly qualified teachers and staff who are ready to partner and support you as you begin your journey. And they’ll continue to support you as you return each year. Each middle school and high school student will have a passionate teacher for each subject they’re taking. You are not in this alone.

Hobbies and Interests

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids. I also love the outdoors, working out, reading, and volunteering at church. My oldest daughter is a '21 OKCA graduate, and my younger children have been with OKCA since 2020. The teachers my oldest daughter had during her sixth & seventh-grade years here at OKCA were the reason I wanted to be part of the OKCA family when I was presented with the opportunity. I am grateful for the education my children have and are also receiving here at OKCA.
