Why I Became a Teacher

I have a passion to help young people learn to think on their own. I have five sons and homeschooled them through most of their high school years. Education opens new horizons for each person and helps them become an amazing asset to others and the world around them.

The Online School Experience at Oklahoma Connections Academy

I have more connection with teachers in this community than I did in brick-and-mortar schools. Everyone is willing to help each other and ask questions. And the school faculty encourages and helps each teacher to be the best they can be.

I love being able to interact with students on a one-to-one basis and see their thinking change right before my eyes. In a way, I’m tutoring each student who wants help in understanding a subject. Students at Oklahoma Connections Academy are pushed to think through problems on their own with teachers’ guidance, and that’s a big difference in education today.

Message for Families Considering Online School

They can’t do it without you. You’ll need to be involved in your child’s education, which is a great thing. It will draw you closer together and you can be part of your child’s life.

I get excited about being a positive influence on the next generation.
