Special Education Teacher

Alex Campbell, a high school art teacher at Ohio Connections Academy (OCA), has been with the virtual school since 2008. He became an art teacher because he wants to make a positive impact on his students the same way his teachers did for him.

What he likes most about teaching at Ohio Connections Academy is that it affords each student the flexibility to learn at their own pace, which gives him varied opportunities and avenues for teaching each student on an individual level. “I love working with such a passionate team of educators and building long-lasting relationships with the families who make the choice to educate their children at Ohio Connections Academy,” Mr. Campbell said. “There are a variety of reasons why a family may consider online education for their child, and if they choose OCA, they can rest assured that our teachers take the welfare of their student very seriously. Teachers like me are very proud of what we do and always put OCA families first.”

I love working with such a passionate team of educators and building long-lasting relationships with the families who make the choice to educate their children at Ohio Connections Academy.

Mr. Campbell was recently recognized as one of Ohio Connections Academy’s Star Teachers of the Month, for November 2018. He was nominated by one of his students, Kimberlie Dickason. Kimberlie said Mr. Campbell’s approach, the feedback he provides, and his ability to add humor to his lessons makes it clear that he enjoys what he does. “Although we are not very far into the school year, I have already found my favorite teacher,” Kimberlie said. “I enjoy going to his LiveLesson sessions and listening to what he has to say. Mr. Campbell has taken one of my favorite hobbies (photography) and made it even more fun to learn about. I think it’s important to give good feedback on the work your students do, and he does a wonderful job at that. He deserves to be recognized for the job he is doing.”
