Peyton Hooper

High School Student

Peyton Hooper is a high school student at New Mexico Connections Academy. Peyton was interested in the school because learning online makes it possible for her to pursue her love for rodeos. At her bricks-and-mortar school, she was missing too many classes. Attending online school allows her to keep up with schoolwork while on the road. She shares her story below:

“I attended public school all through elementary and middle school. Connections Academy is different because you become more independent. You still have teachers, counselors, and staff keeping you on track. Being able to work at my own pace but still having to stay on track works super well for me. All of my teachers are friendly and easy to work with. My favorite subjects are science and photography. I like science because it comes easy to me. I love photography because it is one of my passions. My many passions include rodeo, sewing, cooking, welding, modeling, and makeup.

I rodeo with my friends from all over the world. My friends and I stay in touch over social media because we live so far away from each other. My local friends and I like to go to the movies together and to our youth church service on Wednesday nights.

"What I like most about Connections Academy is how you are able to work at your own pace. You are independent but still have teachers, counselors, and staff keeping you on track and helping you when you need it."

My goal is to graduate from high school with my associate degree then major in psychology and go to graduate school to become an occupational therapist. Connections Academy has allowed me to start earning dual credits in my junior year. New Mexico Connections Academy had also allowed me to take a college prep class to prepare me for applying to colleges.”
