Amberleigh Cruise
Middle School
Amberleigh Cruise is a middle school student at Arkansas Connections Academy. Amberleigh was interested in Arkansas Connections Academy because she gets to experience school online and at home. Her story is below:
“What works well for me in Arkansas Connections Academy is that I can work on my lessons anywhere there is an internet connection and anytime during the day. My favorite school subjects are science, social studies, and art. I would like to be a forensic scientist when I get older. I love to learn about history. If forensic science doesn’t work out, I would like to be an archaeologist—or maybe even both!
“I work well with my teachers. They are very helpful whenever I need assistance with a lesson. I went to a brick-and-mortar school through the fourth grade. Arkansas Connections Academy is very different because it is virtual (online) and I get to do it at home.”
One of Amberleigh’s passions is crafting. She said, “I love to work on different crafts. I find ideas on a couple of different YouTube channels, like Moriah Elizabeth and Becca Beach (formerly Pins and Things). My mom (Learning Coach) has me work on lessons throughout the day so I can be done with it for when my dad gets home from work. I usually work on my crafts in the evenings and on weekends.
“I stay in touch with my friends and have sleepovers every few weeks that allow me to hang out with my friends. I sometimes text back and forth with them, too.”
I love Connections Academy® because I can work at my own pace and don’t have to be rushed. My mom (Learning Coach) loves the flexible schedule.
