Tyler Hagy is a graduate of Colorado Connections Academy from Littleton, Colorado. Although the Hagy family was dedicated to homeschooling, they wanted to expand Tyler’s horizons and ensure that he received a complete high school education, so they enrolled him in Connections Academy. Tyler’s mother shares the family’s story below.
“Because we had been informally homeschooling our son since the first day of kindergarten, we wanted Tyler to continue learning at home through high school. We wanted to broaden the scope of his learning and give him opportunities to take different types of classes like Japanese and psychology, so we decided to try out Colorado Connections Academy. We are happy with our decision.
Connections Academy gave Tyler the support he needed to learn, and at the same time it has helped him develop the independent study skills and discipline he’ll need to succeed in a university setting. Connections Academy has helped him maintain the freedom to pursue his passion for music. Tyler is a pianist and has worked hard to prepare for college auditions and he was able to have the flexibility to schedule his academics around the demands of his music schedule.
Tyler’s favorite subjects were history and psychology, while his least favorite was math. He’s a talented pianist who recorded a CD with his youth group’s worship band and played competitive basketball with Colorado’s FRCAA 2011–12 JV State Champions, the Denver Eagles. He has been viewed as a leader both at church and on the basketball court.”
I loved Connections Academy because I was able to work around my own schedule, and I found new interests that I never had before, like psychology.
