Lauren Cunningham is an elementary school teacher at California Connections Academy. She started her teaching career with Connections Academy and has been teaching with us since 2008. Ms. Cunningham holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She also earned a multiple subject teaching credential and a reading certificate from California State University, Fullerton. Ms. Cunningham shares her story below.
“I come from a family of teachers—my grandmother, grandfather, aunts, and mother! I love working with children and their parents, and I plan to work in education forever. At Connections Academy, I teach third grade courses such as Gifted and Talented and Junior Great Books. I enjoy using LiveLesson® sessions in my courses. In addition to LiveLessons, I provide personalized instruction to my homeroom students.
Connections Academy allows each student to personalize his or her instruction; therefore, learning is tailored to each student’s individual needs and interests. I value the freedom that Connections Academy provides. Another aspect that impresses me about our school is the relationships that I build with the families at Connections Academy. I have had the opportunity to grow close to many of my students and their Learning Coaches, and many of those relationships continue over many years."
