Laila Mostafavi lives in Foothill Ranch, California. She has just completed her first year with California Connections Academy and is looking forward to middle school. Laila shares more of her story below:
I was interested in Connections Academy because of the interesting LiveLesson sessions, the one-on-one interaction with the teachers, and the school courses. What really works well for me in this program is how the courses challenge me and really help me fully understand the concepts. To be very honest, I don’t have a favorite subject, because I love them all! I enjoy learning about everything. I have great relationships with all of my teachers. They are all very kind, caring, knowledgeable, and understanding.
I am very passionate about dance and piano. Being in Connections Academy allows me to have a flexible schedule, and because of this I am able to do the things I am passionate about. I have a handful of very close friends. When I left the traditional public school setting, I kept in touch with many of them. We love to just hang out and have fun with each other. My friends are very important to me, and I was lucky to make more here in Connections Academy. As I said before, I attended a traditional public school from the time I was in kindergarten up until fifth grade. I didn’t think that Connections Academy would be the same, but in reality, it’s not as different as you would expect it to be. You still get textbooks and novels, talk to your teachers, have social events like dances, do state testing, and have projects, tests, and quizzes. On the flip side, however, you have more one-on-one with the teachers. They stay on top of you and make sure you do your best. The courses are more advanced, in my opinion. I also think that the courses are more engaging. And I can apply the lessons to my daily life. Overall, I loved my first year at Connections Academy and I look forward to next year!
What I like most about California Connections Academy is the teachers. The teachers are all very encouraging and make sure that I do my absolute best. They are an amazing help, and they make sure they do their part to help us students learn as much as we can.
