Why is the California Connections Academy choosing to change its online portal now?
As it is always our goal to ensure the best online learning experience for your student, the school has made the decision to continue to use our existing learning portal (Connexus) for the 20-21 school year to provide a consistent experience. This is the same portal the school used last year; one that has been successful for thousands of students.
Will this delay the start of school?
No. For the first week, students and teachers will get to know one another, and students will complete initial assessments and orientations. This important week will lay the foundation for a healthy and successful school year. In week two, students will be fully engaged in their online lessons. Continue to connect with teachers and monitor your child's comfort with online school.
Will this impact my student's records?
Your student’s records will be transferred to Connexus, the existing learning portal.
Will my student’s courses be impacted?
No, we do not anticipate your student’s course selection to be impacted.
Will this change who my student’s teacher is?
Your student’s teacher will remain the same.
Will this impact my student’s academic progress?
No, your student’s academic progress will not be impacted. The first week students will focus on connecting with their teachers, taking initial assessments, and completing orientations. This important week is about laying the foundation for a healthy and successful school year.
Will this mean my student has one less week to complete their assignments?

As a Learning Coach, what steps do I need to take to ensure a successful start to the school year?
For the first week, you can work with your student to connect with their teachers, ensure they take the initial assessments, and complete the orientations. This important week will lay the foundation for a healthy and successful school year.
The second week is when students will be fully engaged in their online lessons. Continue to connect with teachers and monitor your child's comfort with online school. Access parent resources and reach out for support as needed.
What if my student wants to start their lessons on the first day of school?

How do I get in contact with my student’s teacher?
Your student’s teacher will contact you and your student during the first week of school. If you have an urgent question for the teacher, you can login into Connexus and contact them using Webmail, our secure email system.
Will I receive resources for how to use Connexus, the existing learning portal?
After you login to Connexus, click on ‘Links’ on the home page, then click on ‘Learning Coach Central’ link. This site has numerous resources to help you get started and learn how to use the portal. We recommend you attend a Foundations for Success Webinar to receive instructions on navigating the portal. You can also have any of your questions answered at these sessions.
Can I start the orientation before the first day of school?
The Learning Coach Orientation can be found in Learning Coach Central. After you login to Connexus, click on ‘Links’ on the home page, then click on ‘Learning Coach Central’ link. This site has numerous resources to help you get started and have a successful school year.
The student orientation will appear on the student's To Do List when they login to Connexus.
Will I need additional/different technology to use Connexus, the existing learning portal?
No, the portal has the same technology requirements.
Will my child have to switch learning portals mid-year?
No, the Connexus learning portal will be used for the entire 2020-2021 school year.
Login Questions
How will I know my family’s username and password to login to Connexus?
You should have received an email on Sunday, September 6 from Connections Academy, connections.academy@mail.connectionsacademy.com. The email message contains an individual username for each member of your family.
If you did not receive an email, please contact us via chat (bottom right of the homepage) or please call 800-221-2720 from Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST, Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST. Please note that call volume is high. Volume is much lighter after 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and it is also lighter on weekends.
How can I reset my Connexus password?
- Step 1: Click this link. It will take you to a “Did you forget your password?” page.
- Step 2: Insert the username below.
- Step 3: Check the “I am not a robot” box.
- Step 4: Click “Continue”.
- Step 5: A link to set up the new password will be sent to the email address associated with each username. Please note student usernames may be associated with a different email address from the Caretaker.
- Step 6: Reset the password.
- Step 7: Repeat steps for each username listed below.
- Step 8: Once all passwords have been updated, please login to www.connexus.com and bookmark this page to access the learning portal for the school year.
How can I change my Connexus username?
After you have logged into Connexus, you can go to the My Profile page under the Account Settings menu in the upper right corner.
What if I do not see all my information in Connexus?
This is to be expected. All your information will be updated in the system no later than September 13.
