Stephanie Cowan is an elementary teacher at Arkansas Connections Academy (ARCA). She has more than 30 years of teaching experience, and joined ARCA in 2016. Mrs. Cowan received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and her master’s degree in teaching and learning in K12 integrated technology from NovaSoutheastern University. She shares more about her teaching experiences below:
"I began my college career as a civil engineering major, but I was not happy as an engineer. I then began my educational career to become a teacher. Working to help others understand makes me very happy and is extremely rewarding to me. I have never regretted my career change.
ARCA’s challenging curriculum affords students an education commensurate with any bricks-and-mortar school, as well as the opportunity to use technology as a resource and tool. Additionally, students’ families have the chance to be intimately involved with their students’ education.
I love the opportunity to offer an alternative avenue for students to learn and succeed academically. I also like being able to work with students from anyplace I have Internet access. Working in a close community with the ARCA educators and staff has created a family atmosphere. We are tightly connected to ensure student success.
At ARCA, parents have an opportunity to share their student’s educational experience. Parents are always a child’s first and most important teacher. ARCA provides resources to help parents better provide an exemplary education for their children."
Outside of teaching, Mrs. Cowan enjoys spending time with her family and pets, watching documentaries, reading science fiction books and materials, and listening to music.
I love the opportunity to offer an alternative avenue for students to learn and succeed academically.
