Paige Hurd is an elementary teacher at Arkansas Connections Academy. She started at Arkansas Connections Academy in 2018 and has been teaching since 2011. She earned her bachelor’s degree in early education from Arkansas Tech University and her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Arkansas State University. She shares her story below:
“Growing up, you have favorite teachers. Mine was my third grade teacher, Mrs. Cissy. She was fun and full of energy, and you never questioned the amount of love she had for you. She made you feel empowered and ready to take on any challenge. To this day, I am still friends with Mrs. Cissy—and that’s why I became a teacher.
I love teaching at Arkansas Connections Academy because I am excited to work closely with every family and their student and to help them achieve throughout the year! The benefit of online school is being able to take more time for individualized planning, as well as working closely with the families. I believe students can and will be successful with the support of their school and their family.
In my spare time I love to spend time with my family. We are outdoor enthusiasts, so we enjoy all things outdoors. We love to go to the river to play or relax, camp, or enjoy a hike on one of Arkansas’ beautiful trails. I also love music, playing piano, occasionally playing guitar, and singing.”
This school community is so special because it includes teachers who genuinely have a passion for teaching and a care for our students.
