Melissa Curiel is a teacher at Arkansas Connections Academy (ARCA). She started with ARCA in 2016, but has been teaching since 2013. She earned her Bachelors in Education from the University of Arkansas and earned her English as a Second Language Certification from Arkansas Tech University. Ms. Curiel shares her story below:
“I truly believe that teaching is a calling. To teach and make a positive difference in the life of someone else is an amazing experience. I love to see the moment a student reaches a goal or finally sees the answer they’ve struggled to grasp.
I love teaching at ARCA for the flexibility and the ability to create close relationships with students. I also love working with an amazing team of teachers that all have the same goal: to make a difference. Teaching at an online school allows me to make more time for my family and students. I believe that online learning better prepares our students for college and the online workforce. Our world is quickly changing from pen and paper to keyboard and monitor. Through virtual school, students are introduced to the online world before the majority of their peers”.
In her spare time, Ms. Curiel loves spending time with her family. They do a lot together including going to amusement parks, hiking, camping, and antique shopping.
I love teaching at ARCA for the flexibility and the ability to create close relationships with students.
