Kristen Alford is a high school advisory teacher at Arkansas Connections Academy (ARCA). Ms. Alford started teaching in 2010 and joined ARCA in 2018. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Arkansas Tech University and her master of arts in teaching from the University of Central Arkansas. She also has an Educational Leadership Specialist Degree from University of Central Arkansas. Her teaching experience is shared below.
“I became a teacher because of my third-grade teacher. She really showed me what it meant to be a teacher. I didn’t realize the depth of that in third grade; I just knew how she made me feel then. I love teaching at ARCA because we have the best faculty, the best parents, and the best students. The school community at ARCA is so special because it is truly a family!
The benefit of teaching at an online school is the ability to work with students in a different capacity. Students work through a rigorous curriculum, learn important study skills, and take a new responsibility for their education. The one thing I’d tell a prospective parent as they are making the decision to enroll at ARCA would be to do it and don’t look back!”
When Ms. Alford isn’t teaching, she and her husband enjoy cheering on the Omaha Eagles and leading worship at their church. They also support their two daughters through beauty pageants, gymnastics, and cheerleading.
ARCA is amazing. We have the best faculty, the best parents, and the best students!
