Gina Merritt is a health and physical education teacher at Arkansas Connections Academy (ARCA). She began her teaching career in 2012 and joined ARCA in 2016. Ms. Merritt earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mississippi. She shares more about her journey as a teacher below:
"After staying home with my children until they were school age, I decided to rejoin the workforce. Since I wanted to continue to be actively involved with my children’s activities, becoming a teacher made perfect sense.
In my opinion, flexibility is the biggest benefit of online school. It allows students to work at a time that works best for them. I truly believe virtual schooling is the way of the future. Since so many college courses are now online only, students who learn in this virtual environment from an early age will be more prepared when they enter college. I am very glad that I have been able to teach at ARCA since it first opened—we have a fabulous team!
I would tell prospective parents to ask questions, and to not make a decision without having all of the facts and information! ARCA is an incredible school with much to offer. Before parents say no, they should let someone explain how awesome our school is. We have a challenging curriculum and an excellent staff. Our goal is to help each student reach their full potential and be successful."
