Alabama Connections Academy: Our School Leader
Jodie Dean, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, has more than 20 years of instructional and administrative experience. Mrs. Dean holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in elementary education for grades K–8 and in special education for K–12. Additionally, she earned her master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University.
Mrs. Dean previously served as principal at New Mexico Connections Academy. She also served as the principal of Kino Junior High School, a campus with more than 1,000 students located in Arizona’s largest school district, Mesa Public Schools. Prior to that, she was principal at Gilbert Classical Academy, a nationally ranked campus within Gilbert Public Schools that offers a rigorous curriculum with a focus on college prep. Mrs. Dean has also been a teacher at both elementary and junior high levels, as well as an athletic director and assistant principal.
“Every child has unique educational needs, and every family has the right to choose an educational atmosphere that best meets those needs,” Mrs. Dean said. “I am excited to be part of Alabama Connections Academy, because virtual school allows me to work with parents and instructors to help our students achieve, and hopefully exceed, their academic expectations.”
Mrs. Dean and her husband, Brian, currently live in Tennessee River Valley near Athens, Alabama. They enjoy exploring our picturesque state and learning about the many aspects that make southern life so pleasant.
