Alexander King

JHCA Student

Alexander is an 13-year-old sixth grader at Wyoming Connections Academy (WYCA).  He lives in Evanston, Wyoming. When asked about his passions, he stated “I am passionate about technology; the computer, Wii—you know anything electronic.”

Given Xander’s passion it is not difficult to understand why he enjoys attending a virtual school, WYCA. His favorite subjects are “science, because it’s easy; language arts, because I like to read; and social studies, because it’s interesting to learn about places. He says, “What I like best about WYCA is that I can complete my studies from home and I also like the BrainPOP® videos. I love WYCA because I can learn in different ways and I don't have to go to a noisy school.”

The first thing you might notice about Xander is his smile, what you might not see is his heart-- and it’s equally as big.  Fortunately, his good actions did not go without notice.  In fact, they won him a gold medal!

Xander contributed to the Special Olympics in Casper, Wyoming by teaming up with a girl named Christina, who has Down syndrome. They competed in the Unified Equestrian event where a typical child rides his own horse while the special needs child rides her own horse. They take turns going from one end of the arena to the other. They did such a great job together that they each brought home the gold!
