What grades do you offer in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin Connections Academy (WCA) currently offers grades K–12.
Does Wisconsin Connections Academy provide services and accommodations for students with disabilities?
The Appleton Area School District (AASD) provides a continuum of special education and related services to assure that students with disabilities receive a free appropriate public education (FAPE). However, not all services are available at all schools. If a student requires services that are not available through Wisconsin Connections Academy, the AASD may recommend enrollment in another school within the district or determine that it is necessary for the student to enroll in their district of residence to receive FAPE.
Who are the teachers in WCA?
All teachers in WCA are employees of the Appleton Area School District.
What kind of administrative staff will be involved in WCA?
WCA has a school principal and Dean of Students who are employees of the Appleton Area School District.
How many hours of instruction must be provided in Wisconsin?
The state of Wisconsin requires that 875 hours of instruction be provided for most grade levels. WCA meets or exceeds this requirement.
What standardized tests are required for students in WCA?
Students are required to participate in the Wisconsin Student Assessment System, which currently tests in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Students in kindergarten and first grade participate in a Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening.
What technology is provided in Wisconsin?
WCA families with students in grades K–8 receive the loan of a desktop computer and a monitor. WCA families with students in grades 9–12 receive the loan of a laptop computer. Connections Academy also provides a subsidy to assist with costs associated with Internet access. Families are able to select their own provider. Are physical textbooks provided to WCA students?
WCA students in grades K–8 receive physical textbooks for a majority of their courses. WCA students in grades 9–12 receive online textbooks and a loaned laptop.
