Ashley Nicole Bechtold

TCAH Student

Ashley is an 12-year-old seventh grader at Texas Connections Academy @ Houston (TCAH).  She lives in McKinney, Texas.  Ashley is a Pre-Juvenile level figure skater who has competed in many competitions around the country. She has twenty-seven medals of which eleven are gold. On the weekends, she enjoys baking cookies and making Filipino recipes with her mom who is from the Philippines. She also makes a mean Caesar salad dressing from scratch.

Ashley’s greatest passion is figure skating. One day while watching a movie called Ice Princess, she thought, “I could do that”! The very next week she was on the ice. She has now been skating for three years and has competed in many competitions around the country. As she continued to develop her skating skills, she was blessed with the opportunity to be trained by Olympic figure skating coach Richard Callaghan and Olympic gold medalist Todd Eldredge. Now in Texas, she has several new coaches that will assist her in perusing her own Olympic dream.

Ashley has always been a good student in school, with most semesters on the Honor Roll list. Connections Academy allows her the flexibility and provides the support so that she can train twelve-to-fourteen hours a week on-and-off the ice. Because of Connections Academy, she continues to excel at her studies and at figure skating.
