South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA) is a tuition-free, K–12 online public school that students attend from home. SCCA brings a fully accredited public education directly to your family’s door—anywhere in South Carolina.

Authorized by the South Carolina Public Charter School District

South Carolina Connections Academy opened in 2008 and is authorized under state law by the South Carolina Public Charter School District. The school is operated by the South Carolina Connections Academy Charter School, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. The school is governed by an independent Governing Board and all meetings are open to the public. With a caring staff, an outstanding curriculum, and a vibrant virtual school community, SCCA is a leading virtual school in South Carolina. Additionally, SCCA maintains a high degree of educational accountability for all students by requiring participation in all South Carolina State Testing Programs.

Meet Amanda Ebel, SCCA Executive Director

Executive Director Amanda Ebel portraitAmanda has been in education for 12 years serving as a public school teacher, a private school teacher and most recently, a virtual school teacher and administrator at SCCA. Amanda's teaching career began in 2001 at a brick and mortar middle school in Los Angeles, California where she taught seventh grade English Language Arts and coached

field hockey.  

Following that, she began her career at SCCA in the 2009-2010 school year, teaching high school English. She went on to serve as both the High School Assistant Principal and High School Principal, prior to being appointed SCCA's newest Executive Director.  

Amanda is passionate about virtual schooling and believes that all students can learn at the highest levels. In her spare time, Amanda volunteers in her community. She loves to travel and enjoys spending time with her husband and their 5 year old daughter.


  • B.A. in English Education from the University of Georgia 
  • M.A. Educational Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.
