Welcome to South Carolina Connections Academy

South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA) provides a new form of public school that students can attend from home.

This unique program combines

• the expertise and accountability of publicly funded education,
• strong parental involvement,
• and the flexibility of online classes.

Tuition-free Public School for Grades K–12

Connections Academy is launching a school in South Carolina in 2008–09 under contract to the South Carolina Connections Academy Charter School. SCCA is South Carolina's very first virtual charter school, authorized by the new South Carolina Public Charter School District. The school will serve students in grades K–12 from anywhere in South Carolina.

Parents pay no tuition for students to attend SCCA. Students are considered to be enrolled in a public school.

Parent Satisfaction

Each year we ask SCCA families to rate our program. Our parents evaluate us on a number of criteria including student progress, teacher support, and quality of the curriculum.

Materials Provided by the School

SCCA provides

• South Carolina-certified teachers,
• textbooks and other curriculum materials,
• and online resources, such as movies and encyclopedias.

All materials must be returned if the student is no longer enrolled.

In addition, SCCA offers a wide range of opportunities for students to participate in direct instruction to enhance the learning experience while providing families as much flexibility as possible. These opportunities include:

• Real-time web conferencing through LiveLesson® sessions
• Phone instruction
• Mandatory state testing sessions*
• Field trips

*Students are required to take all state mandated, standardized tests in person at locations designated by the school. Please contact the school principal for more details.
