School Admissions Information
National Connections Academy accepts applications from students in grades K-12 for full-time enrollment based on the admissions criteria below.
Lower and Middle School Admissions
1. Parental Involvement:
Parents/guardians are an integral part of the National Connections Academy experience, particularly for students in grades K-8. Parents/guardians are therefore required to read, understand, and sign the Parent/Learning Coach Agreement as part of the admissions process.
2. Academic Documentation:
During the admissions process, the Academic Program Advisor works with families to place students in appropriate courses. We suggest that prior to beginning this process families collect the most recent versions of the following documents, as applicable:
- Report cards
- Progress report
- State test results
- Home School Evaluation Forms
- Individual IQ or other assessment tests
- Any other documentation of student ability or needs
3. Age:
In order to be admitted to kindergarten at National Connections Academy, a student must be 5 years of age or older by September 1st. However, parents may contact the principal to consider admitting a student who is 4 years of age by September 1st for attending kindergarten. National Connections Academy does not accept students younger than 4 years of age.
Upper School Admissions
1. Parental Involvement:
Parents/guardians are an integral part of the National Connections Academy experience, though parents of upper school students have less direct responsibility than parents of students in grades K-8. Parents are required to read, understand, and sign the Parent/Learning Coach Agreement as part of the admissions process.
2. Academic Documentation:
For 9th grade enrollment, students are required to show evidence of successful completion of 8th grade level coursework or the equivalent.
Students enrolling in 10th grade and above who have completed upper school coursework may transfer credits based on National Connections Academy’s Credit Transfer Policy. The Academic Program Advisor works with families to transfer credits for prior academic work based on transcripts and/or report cards submitted by the student during the admissions process.
3. Credit for Coursework Completed in a Non-Standard Program:
National Connections Academy welcomes home school students and other students who have completed coursework in a “non-standard” setting. During the admissions process, the Academic Program Advisor assists students with documenting prior academic work. Families are encouraged to review National Connections Academy’s Credit for Coursework Completed in a Non-Standard Program Policy prior to contacting the Academic Program Advisor.
4. Age:
Students who are more than 21 years of age by September 1st may not enroll in National Connections Academy.
National Connections Academy admits students and conducts all educational programs, activities, and employment practices without discrimination on the basis of sex, race, religion, age, national origin, ancestry, creed, sexual orientation, disability, or any other legally protected classification.
