ORCA Field Trips

Bringing Lessons to Life

From frontier life at Fort Astoria and the Oregon Trail to the space age at the Oregon Air and Space Museum, Oregon’s rich historical, cultural, and natural resources are all integral parts of the curriculum at ORCA.

With help from our regional volunteer coordinators, ORCA leads dozens of field trips throughout the state each year. From the Oregon Trail to the Oregon Coast, ORCA brings classroom lessons to life with: 

• Eco-tours of where students explore the interconnections of biology, ecology, and geology.
• Cultural outings that deepen their understanding of art, music, and theater.
• History tours that vividly trace the impact of the past on the present.
• Excursions that connect math and science concepts to practical living and working applications.
• Local outings to businesses, non-profits, and public services that connect students to the world of work, one another, and their communities.

Just for fun

At ORCA, we’re just as committed to our students' social and personal development as their academic performance. So we schedule field trips just for fun too—pizza, bowling, ice skating parties, family picnics at local parks and more. 

Exploring Life after Graduation

To help high school students exploring career and college options, we offer field trips to colleges and universities, college fairs, and businesses.
