Jeremy Coste
Jeremy is a 13-year-old freshman at Oregon Connections Academy (ORCA). He lives in Salem, Oregon. Jeremy is the 2010 winner of the Connections Academy March Madness Chess Championship. He tells his story below.
“Our family learned about ORCA through some friends, so we decided to give it a try. I was attracted to the CA curriculum because it is challenging and because I could advance at an accelerated pace. At just 11, I am already going into eighth grade and I have also taken some advanced classes in math.
One of the things I appreciate most at ORCA is how well the whole system is organized. The education management system has all the information I need, including: schedule, grade book, message boards, and Webmail. They are all there to facilitate learning. Also, I like the Teachlets® and find them very informative, and often quite funny. I also like the clubs, along with the rewards that came with some of them. The most exiting of all for me has been the reward I received for winning the ORCA Chess Tournament: a trip to Baltimore!
I believe Connections Academy fully deserves its name. Indeed, with Connections Academy, students stay connected: to their teachers, to knowledge, to their future!”
