more about this exciting club.

Connections Academy offers chess clubs to appeal to students of all ages and skill levels.

Introduction to Chess Club

In Chess Club, members learn, socialize, and play in an atmosphere of friendly competition. After completing a tutorial, students are matched with competitors of the same skill level. Then, using our exclusive online chess system, the online games begin. Students can even participate in our annual tournament using the exclusive Connections Academy gaming site.

Advanced Chess Club

For our higher skilled players, the Advanced Chess Club is designed to increase the skill of the student already familiar with the game of chess. Advanced Chess students focus more on strategy than the workings of the game. After completing several required lessons, students will be able to play chess with a classmate on a private message board using standard chess notation language, in addition to using the Connections Academy chess system.

The Chess Clubs are open to students in all grades.

Students love our Chess Clubs! Here's what one student has to say...

"In Chess Club, I really enjoyed playing everyone that I had matches with this year. I learned a lot and it made me improve a lot this year"

–Christopher, 6th grader
