Taylor Ambrosio Wood

Taylor playing marimba

Taylor is an Oregon Connections Academy (ORCA) graduate. She lives in Ashland, Oregon. As a multi-instrumentalist, Taylor enjoyed the flexibility that Connections Academy provided her to practice more frequently for marimba competitions without falling behind in school work.

For Taylor, the ability to practice and play in competitions (and for fun) is critical. She says, “Connections Academy allowed me to work at my own pace and personalize my education. My favorite subjects were English and math. I really liked managing my own schedule.

Completing high school at an accelerated pace helped me to achieve my goal of attending Southern Oregon University to expand my music education and experiences Connections Academy provided me with the freedom to pursue my dreams.”

Taylor was the first percussion soloist in the history of the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon and a winner of the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon’s 2009 Concerto Competition on marimba. Special congratulations go out to her for also being named the 2011 Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) State Mallet Champion for the second year in a row!
