Jeremy is a graduate of Oregon Connections Academy (ORCA) from Salem, Oregon. At ORCA, he was able to take full advantage of his education by completing work that pushed him to think more critically and prepared him for college. He tells his story below.
“Our family learned about ORCA through some friends, so we decided to give it a try. I was attracted to the Connections Academy curriculum because it is challenging and because I could advance at an accelerated pace.
One of the things I appreciated most at ORCA is how well the whole system was organized. The education management system had all the information I need, including Scheduler, Grade Book, Message Boards, and WebMail. They are all there to facilitate learning. Also, I liked the Teachlet® tutorials and found them very informative, and often quite funny.
I enjoyed the clubs as well, along with the rewards that came with some of them. The most exciting of all for me was the reward I received for winning the Connections Academy March Madness Chess Championship: a trip to Baltimore! I believe that Connections Academy fully deserves its name. Indeed, with Connections Academy, students stay connected: to their teachers, to knowledge, and to their future!”
Now majoring in math and economics at Willamette University, Jeremy is a peer tutor and is active in community service.
