In grades K–5, the Learning Coach is an essential part of the OCA team. In addition to getting a personalized learning plan tailored to each student’s individual strengths and challenges, every lesson includes clear, easy-to-follow instructions for the Learning Coach. Every student is unique and, at OCA, the customized curriculum is unique to every student.
Follow a Fifth-Grader
Curious how all these resources come together on a typical school day? Just follow a fifth-grader:
Tuesday, Lily joins her teacher, Mrs. Clarke, and classmates for a LiveLesson® session to discuss their lesson on characterization in Language Arts. Later, with help from her Learning Coach, she follows the instructions in her workbook to write a character sketch about her favorite character, the mischievous Nick in Frindle. She checks a grammar rule in our virtual library, makes corrections, and sends her essay to Mrs. Clarke for review. At day’s end, she’s online, playing chess with other Chess Club students from across the country.
