The Role of Parental Involvement in School

One of the hallmarks of the Ohio Connections Academy (OCA) online school program is parental involvement. A parent’s (or other trusted adult’s) involvement in education, specifically in learning activities, shows children that education is a top priority and helps ensure their success. There are many benefits to this level of parental involvement in education, such as improved grades and test scores, higher graduation rates, and greater enrollment in postsecondary education. At OCA, the person who supports the child’s education in the home is called a Learning Coach.
