Nevada Connections Academy Field Trips

Bringing Lessons to Life

From the history of the Spanish Trail to the power of the Hoover Dam, from the impact of the Colorado River to the plants and animals of the Mojave Desert, NCA field trips throughout Nevada connect our students to the history, culture, and geography that shape life in the Silver State.

At NCA, we integrate the diverse resources of Nevada into our curriculum to bring our classroom lessons to life.  With the help of Community Coordinators throughout the state, NCA conducts dozens of field trips statewide each year including:

  • Eco-tours to preserves, rivers, mountains, trails, and desert habitats where students learn the role of our unique geography, weather, and natural resources play in our state.
  • Cultural outings that deepen their understanding of art, music, and theater.
  • History tours that vividly trace the impact of the past on the present.
  • Excursions that connect math and science concepts to practical living and working applications.
  • Local outings to farms, parks, and local businesses allowing students to connect both with one another and the communities they live in.

Just for fun

At NCA, we’re just as committed to students' social and personal development as their academic performance. So we schedule field trips just for fun too:

  • Field days, picnics, skating parties, and the occasional fishing trip
  • Weekly “Lunch Bunch” gatherings at various locations throughout the state
  • Outings to places like the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory and the Reno Air Races
