Frequently Asked Questions

Updated: March 31, 2009

The State of Missouri is currently in the process of selecting MoVIP curriculum providers for the 2009–10 school year. Connections Academy is one of the curriculum providers being evaluated. All registrations for any MoVIP courses for 2009–10 will be handled through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Web site  regardless of curriculum providers. You will not be able to enroll in any MoVIP courses through the Connections Academy Web site.

What is MoVIP K–5?

The Missouri Virtual Instruction Program (MoVIP) was created by the Missouri State Legislature to provide full-time and part-time virtual learning opportunities to students across Missouri. The program is administered by DESE, which chose Connections Academy in 2007 as the provider for the kindergarten through fifth grade (MoVIP K–5) portion of the program.

What is the status of Connections Academy’s contract for the MoVIP K–5 program?

The current contract for Connections Academy to provide the MoVIP K–5 program expires at the end of the 2008–09 school year. We have been informed that DESE intends to centralize most MoVIP operations at the University of Missouri/eMINTS program beginning with the 2009–10 school year but will be seeking content/curriculum providers. Connections Academy is one of the curriculum providers being evaluated by the state. We anticipate that we will be notified in late spring as to whether Connections Academy will be a provider for the next school year.
