Hardware and Connectivity
MTS Minnesota Connections Academy families will receive the following:
- One desktop computer and monitor per household for households with students enrolled in grades 6 and above: View a description of our standard desktop systems.
- Subsidy for Internet service: Each eligible household that has students in grades 6 and above will receive $50.85 while actively enrolled at the time of disbursement. Payments are made three times a year: December, March, and June. Families not enrolled for the entire payment period will receive a pro-rated payment. Subsidies are not available during the summer months.
- Households with students enrolled in only grades K–5 must provide their own computer and Internet service unless they request, qualify, and are approved for a technology hardship exception*
We offer comprehensive technical support for the systems we provide and complete information on proper usage of hardware and software.
Using Your Own Equipment
If you use your own computer, be sure your system meets our minimum system requirements.
* Households must apply for hardship exceptions when they enroll. To qualify, they must meet federal guidelines for free or reduced lunch and not have access to any hardware being requested. There are a limited number of hardship exceptions available, and qualification under Federal low-income guidelines does not guarantee a hardship exception will be provided.
