Rebekah (Bekah) is a 14-year-old eighth grader at Kansas Connections Academy (KCA). She lives in Overland Park, Kansas. As a formerly home-schooled student, Bekah has transitioned well to KCA’s online program.

According to her mother, she greatly benefitted from KCA’s caring and understanding teachers and staff. She says, “Amazingly we learned that Connections Academy was willing to work with us as we slowly integrated Bekah into the 7th grade. She began with just math and language arts, then added science in January followed by Kansas history in February. We found that Bekah's teachers were willing to work above and beyond to help her feel comfortable with the style of learning instituted in public schools. Our family is extremely grateful for the help each of Bekah's teachers gave to her and to us as we negotiated our way through the first several months of school.”

“Because Bekah was entering 7th grade, we wanted our daughter to experience other teachers besides us plus have the benefit of learning through the tremendous technology afforded to Connections Academy. We had concerns and were able to dialogue with Mrs. Hurns about how to best meet Bekah's learning needs.

KCA allows Bekah to pursue her main passion, ballet and dance, because of its flexibility of scheduling. Bekah is a tremendous ballerina and is able to juggle her schedule around each day. On a typical day Bekah dances two to three hours a night so it has been wonderful to have the entire day to complete school work. Also, having the flexibility of on-line schooling allows Bekah to speed-up or slow-down as needed.”

“I like many things about KCA; the flexibility of school at my own pace; the LiveLesson® sessions; and I enjoy studying online with friends.  And, I LOVE my teachers!”
