Bringing Classroom Lessons to Life

From the natural wonders of the Indiana Dunes to frontier life in historic Vincennes, Indiana’s rich historic, cultural, and natural resources are part of the curriculum at INCA.

With multiple field trips across the state each year, INCA brings classroom lessons to life with:

  • Eco-tours where students explore the interconnections of biology, ecology, and geology.
  • Cultural outings that deepen their understanding of art, music, and theater.
  • History tours that vividly trace the impact of the past on the present.
  • Activities that connect math and science concepts to practical living and working applications.

During some of their favorite field trips, INCA students have:

  • “Time-travelled” to explore: dinosaurs at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, early frontier life in historic Vincennes, Civil War days in Conner Prairie, and the sinking of the Titanic at the Indiana State Museum.
  • Studied wildlife at the Indiana Dunes along Lake Michigan, plant life and biomes at the Foellinger-Freiman Botanical Conservatory, and “germ life” and hygiene at the Healthworks Science Museum.
  • Attended plays at Purdue University, celebrated Dr. Seuss Day in a LiveLesson with Indiana’s Governor, and explored the number Pi in hands-on projects across the state.
  • Studied government past and present at the Indiana State House and the home of Benjamin Harrison.
