Tuition-free Virtual School from Home

Indiana Connections Academy (INCA) is a tuition-free, virtual charter school that brings a fully accredited public education directly to your family’s door—anywhere in Indiana.

The school was founded in 2010 when the Indiana Department of Education selected Connections Academy to serve students throughout Indiana as part of the Virtual School Pilot Program. In the fall of 2011, Indiana Connections Academy became a charter school.

Authorized by Ball State University

Authorized by Ball State University, the school is operated by Indiana Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Indiana, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. The school is governed by an independent Board of Directors and all meetings are open to the public. Please review our scheduled meeting dates, agendas, and information on how to attend a meeting or make a request for public records.

Meet Melissa Brown, INCA Principal

With a decade of online education experience, Melissa Brown recognizes virtual education’s power to transform the way students learn. With a Master’s of Art
in Information and Learning Technologies from the University of Colorado at Denver, Ms. Brown combines knowledge of the latest advances in distance learning with hands-on experience as:

Former Director of the Virtual School Program for Indianapolis Public Schools.
Online high school language arts teacher for six years.
Instructional design developer and non-profit program manager.

A self-described online learning advocate, Ms. Brown is quick to point out that, at INCA, it’s still great teachers who make the difference. Says Ms. Brown, “We simply have the best teachers around. Period .”
