Eligibility Requirements
You must meet specific state and program requirements to attend Indiana Connections Academy. Student eligibility requirements in Indiana are determined by the Indiana Department of Education. Before enrolling, review the following eligibility requirements carefully to determine whether your student(s) is eligible to participate in K–12.
Age Limitations
- Kindergarten: Students must be five (5) years old on or before August 1 in the school year in which they are enrolling.
- First Grade: Any student enrolling in first grade must have completed a full-time kindergarten program.
Required Documents
A birth certificate copy must be provided for every student to verify age eligibility. To avoid unnecessary delays, provide a copy of the birth certificate along with your enrollment documents
Geographical Limitations
You must reside in the state of Indiana and provide acceptable proof of residency to be eligible for enrollment in Indiana Connections Academy Virtual Pilot School. Please submit one of the following documents to verify your proof of residency:
- Utility bill (gas, electric, cable or water) from the last 60 days showing your service address.
- Mortgage statement or current lease agreement.
- Valid Indiana drivers license.
Immunizations
All Indiana Connections Academy Virtual Pilot School students must provide evidence of their immunizations. Provide your student’s immunization form signed by a health care provider.View the immunizations schedule for Indiana.

Prior Public Schooling Limitations
All students that have previously attended public, private, or home school are eligible to enroll. At least 60 percent of students enrolled in Indiana Connections Academy must have attended an Indiana public school in the 2010–11 school year and must have been counted in the public school’s September 2010 count.
Other Documentation
You may need to provide additional documentation if any of the following circumstances apply:
- Custody order: If your legal guardianship is determined by a court order, please submit a copy of the order.
- Gifted evaluation: If you are requesting enrollment in a course that is ahead of or behind your student's age-based grade level or you are requesting placement in a Gifted course, an Academic Services Counselor will contact you to request a report card, Prior Academic History Form, and/or state test scores.
- IEP or 504 plan: If your student has an IEP or a 504 plan, providing a copy of the plan and the Eligibility Report will speed your student's proper course placement.
