Prior Public Schooling Limitations
2nd through 12th Grade: Eligible students must have been enrolled in a Florida public school during both October 2010 and February 2011. Students who were enrolled in a district or state-operated K–12 virtual school program during these time periods were in a public school and are eligible to enroll for 2011–12. Please see the exception for siblings of returning students or for children members of the U.S. Armed Forces residing in Florida.
K and 1: Students are not required to have been previously enrolled in a Florida public school.
Exceptions for siblings of returning students entering grades 2 through 12: Siblings of students who were enrolled at the end of the 2010–11 school year in their resident district's Virtual Instruction Program are eligible for the FLVS FT program if the returning student will return to either the school district virtual isntruction program or the FLVS FT Public School for the 2011–12 school year.
Exceptions for children of members of the U.S. Armed Forces: The legislature has currently provided an exception for students who are dependent children of a member of the U.S. Armed Forces who was transferred to Florida within the last 12 months pursuant to a permanent change of station. These students entering grades 2–12 do not have to meet the requirement for previous public school enrollment. Parents will be required to submit copies of their orders to verify the students' status under this exception.
