Preparing Online School Students for Graduation

Connections Academy provides in-depth support to ensure that students understand the Connections Academy graduation requirements* and are well prepared for life beyond high school.

To make sure that our graduating class of seniors is well prepared for the transition out of virtual high school, Connections Academy provides:

  • Access to a full-time certified school counselor
  • Assistance creating a four-year academic plan
  • College and career planning, including:
    • Guidance in finding appropriate college or career opportunities
    • LiveLesson® online workshops about the college application process, including information on local colleges/universities
    • Financial aid and scholarship LiveLesson online workshops
    • Free access to college admissions test preparation online courses and information about test dates, locations, etc.
    • Official transcripts
  • Additional extracurricular activities such as Student Advisory Council and Debate Club

* The Connections Academy online high school program is not available in all states.

High School Graduation Requirements

On average, high school students engage in 6 courses per semester. The number of credits which students must successfully earn to meet high school graduation requirements varies by state. Students may also need to pass state tests where required. Be sure to check with your local Connections Academy school for specific details.

Typically, course credits required to graduate include, but are not limited to*:

  • Language Arts: 4 credits
  • Math: 3 or more credits
  • Science: 3 or more credits
  • Social Studies: 3 or more credits
  • Physical Education and Health credits
  • Required electives in Technology and Humanities
  • Additional credits of electives may be required
