High School Curriculum

Connections Academy offers a rigorous and wide-ranging slate of high school courses providing a solid foundation for going to college, starting a career, or joining the military. Our comprehensive instructional program is a challenging, standards-based alternative to a brick-and-mortar school, combining the latest advancements in online instruction with the best curriculum and resources available.

Our inclusive set of core courses cover subjects in math, science, language arts, and social studies. There are also a wide variety of interesting and diverse elective courses in areas such as foreign languages, digital technology, journalism, and art history. We provide a series of Honors courses that offer extra challenges and are particularly beneficial for college-bound students, or any ambitious student who wants to demonstrate mastery in a specific subject area.

High school students are assigned counselors who, in collaboration with the Learning Coach, develop a personalized learning plan for each student and monitor overall academic progress. Every core subject is taught by highly qualified and certified teachers with expertise in their relevant content areas. Students participate in a live online virtual classroom environment via our LiveLesson™ technology; they have the ability to receive and turn in homework assignments online; and they can track their progress through a secure online assessment environment.

Every member of the Connections Academy high school community—students, teachers, staff and parents or guardians—are united by the energy, time, and hard work devoted to ensuring that every single student succeeds to the best of his or her ability. We believe that students learn more when they are active, social, and creative participants in their education. That's why we offer a high-quality collaborative learning environment in which student exchange and interaction is a critical part of the overall instructional process.

With the addition of 12th grade for the 2008–2009 school year, Connections Academy will offer seniors additional services such as teacher references, additional extracurricular activities, valid transcripts, and the chance to develop excellent time management skills—all designed to make their transition to life after high school as successful as possible.
