Megan Redmond

Megan is a 16-year-old sophomore at Colorado Connections Academy (ColoCA). She is from Aurora, Colorado.  Megan is a talented country music singer who won the Colorado Country Music Association (CCMA) Female Vocalist and Female Entertainer of the Year in 2009.

Megan Redmond is pursuing her career as a country music artist while balancing her schoolwork with her busy schedule. She has been singing for as long as she can remember and now has chosen to focus on her country music career full time in order to make her dreams possible. Megan won the Colorado Country Music Association (CCMA) Female Vocalist and Female Entertainer of the Year in 2009 and in March 2010 Megan competed against hundreds of people from all around North America and won the North America Country Music International (NACMAI) Future Star of Tomorrow Award.

During one of her trips to Nashville in 2009, she signed with a Nashville music firm as part of their artist development program. This requires at a minimum, monthly trips to the Music City and sometimes more frequently. A traditional school was not going to be able to provide the flexibility she needed, and so her parents found Colorado Connections Academy (ColoCA) as an option. Megan recently completed her first year of ColoCA’s online program and is looking forward to her freshman year beginning in August.

Megan’s recently been in the studio recording songs for her upcoming EPK and continues to work on songwriting with hit songwriters in Nashville. In the summer of 2010, Megan will be performing at numerous fairs and festivals around Colorado including the Colorado State and also in Nashville at different music venues.

Making it as an artist or songwriter in Nashville is no easy feat. It takes time, hard work and practice, and education.  As Megan continues to learn about the different aspects of the music industry and her career, Connections Academy has given her the opportunity to pursue her dreams in music while continuing her education. Being able to do her schoolwork at any time of the day, wherever she happens to be, and having teachers that are helpful and willing to work with her through her busy schedule has been a key to her success.
