Welcome to Colorado Connections Academy
Colorado Connections Academy (ColoCA), formerly Denver Connections Academy,
provides a new form of public school that students can attend from home*.
This unique program combines:
- the expertise and accountability of publicly funded education,
- strong parental involvement,
- and the flexibility of online classes.
Tuition-free Public School for Grades K–12
The Colorado Connections Academy full-time program is a partnership with
Denver Public Schools that has been in operation since the Fall of 2002. ColoCA
serves students from anywhere in Colorado in grades K–12.
There is no tuition for students to attend Colorado Connections
Academy. Students are considered to be enrolled in a public school.
Parent Satisfaction
Each year we ask ColoCA families to rate our program. Our parents evaluate us on a number of criteria including student progress, teacher support, and quality of the curriculum.
This year, 93% of all Connections Academy parents surveyed gave our program high ratings. Check out the latest survey results to see how ColoCA parents surveyed felt about our program.
Exceptional Teaching
Our teachers are certified, full-time professionals who are
specially trained in the nuances of working effectively in a virtual classroom
setting. In fact, Colorado Connections Academy teacher Chaille Cummings was
recently honored with the first-ever award for Online Elementary Teacher of the year by the Colorado
Department of Education. Our teachers spend time:
- communicating with students and Learning Coaches,
- analyzing individual student performance,
- and personalizing instructional programs.
Materials Provided by the School
ColoCA provides:
- Colorado-certified teachers,
- textbooks and other curriculum materials,
- online resources, such as movies and encyclopedias,
- and a loaned computer, printer, and subsidy for Internet service for
students in grades 1–12.
All materials, including the computer and reusable curriculum materials, must
be returned if the student is no longer enrolled. Check the Technology page for more
information. Students are required to take all state mandated, standardized
tests in person at locations designated by the school.
