Hi, my name is Lauren Cunningham, and I am an elementary school teacher at Capistrano Connections Academy. I have been teaching at CapoCA since 2008. Before that, I worked at a traditional bricks-and-mortar school in California for two years. I hold two bachelor of arts degrees from UC Santa Barbara in psychology and sociology. In addition, I have a multiple subject teaching credential, and I am currently working on receiving a reading specialist credential from California State University, Fullerton.

One of the things I love about Connections Academy is the close relationships that I develop with the families over the years. I enjoy working closely with each Learning Coach and student to tailor the curriculum to meet the student’s individual needs and interests. I love the freedom that Connections Academy provides! I began my journey with Capistrano Connections Academy in the fall of 2006. I have enjoyed my time here immensely. I love working with teachers and staff members who are dedicated to supporting the needs of our students and families. Hands down, this is the best team I have ever worked with. I believe that having great families, who are interested in the academic growth of their students, makes our school great.

The ability to work with students individually is a major plus for me as a teacher. I started my educational career as a tutor in a classroom. Each student is different, and our program allows me to work with students to meet their needs. In the traditional classroom, I had to use one lesson to try to reach as many students and their learning styles as possible. Even the best lessons, however, might not work for every student. The collaboration with Learning Coaches also gives me a great advantage I didn’t have in the classroom. Instead of having to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of each student on my own, I can ask the Learning Coaches who know the student well.

Hello! My name is Nicole Jameson, and I am one of the high school advisory teachers at Capistrano Connections Academy. I also teach the College Prep with SAT and Skills for Success courses and serve as the National Honor Society Advisor for our California Connections Academy chapters.

Prior to joining Connections Academy in 2010, I taught various high school English courses at a local private school. I earned my bachelor’s degree and single subject teaching credential in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and recently completed the coursework for my master’s degree in English at UC Irvine.

I am excited to be here at Connections Academy serving in the high school advisory teacher role, and proud to work with a team that is dedicated to the success of all of our students, so please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
