Tuition-free Online School from Home


Central California Connections Academy (CenCA) is an independent-study, non-classroom-based charter school that serves students in grades K–12. As a tuition-free online school, CenCA brings a fully accredited public education directly into the homes of students throughout Tulare, Fresno, Kern, Kings, and Inyo Counties.

Authorized under State Law by the Alpaugh Unified School District

CenCA is authorized under state law by the Alpaugh Unified School District. The school is operated by the Alpaugh Academies, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. The school is governed by an independent Board of Directors and all meetings are open to the public. Please review our scheduled meeting dates, agendas, and information on how to attend a meeting or make a request for public records.

As a public charter school, CenCA is committed to meeting the State of California’s rigorous standards for academic achievement and accountability. CenCA’s latest state rankings can be viewed in School Accountability Report Card (SARC) for 2010–11 or by requesting a printed copy from our school principal.

Meet William Crockett, Principal

Bill CrockettPrincipal Bill Crockett joined Central California Connections Academy (CenCA) as Principal in June 2011. He brings 15 years of experience in middle and high school education with an extensive background in technology, education leadership and independent learning. Mr. Crockett holds master’s degree in educational leadership. At CenCA one of his main focuses as principal is to ensure the virtual school continues to maintain maximum communication on all fronts by further building relationships between parents, teachers and students.

Prior to joining CenCA, Crockett served as the secondary principal at Monterey High School in Monterey, Calif. He also served as the chairman for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Self-Study committee, where he was responsible for high school online learning courses. Mr. Crockett completed his undergraduate degree at Pepperdine University and then obtained his Master of Arts degree from Point Loma Nazarene University.

Mr. Crockett says “I am thrilled to be a part of Connections Academy as the model allows students to thrive in an environment that is tailored to their particular interests, strengths and challenges. I look forward to supporting and leading the charge as we continue to fulfill and expand the school’s mission to help each student maximize their potential and meet the highest performance standards.”
