  This will be such a great relief for me to know that my day at home is the same as others out there online with virtual schooling. 
  
  My biggest problem is trying to accommodate four grade levels during the day.  I hope to gain some insight as to some ideas from others to do a better job of juggling.  I am hoping in the future that Florida Connections Academy will help me combine the different grade levels within Geography, Science and Social Studies.  Math and Language seem to be the subjects that need to be separate. 
   
  I will gladly help contribute whenever needed.   I do love all the planning that FCA has done for us and all the supplies.  This saves me so much time and energy.

  I have a suggestion that I have not tried but would like some feedback on. I was thinking of starting each day (unless they are sick or cant do school for some other reason) with no privileges at all. Like no tv, ipod, phone, ect. Each day she completes her work in full she will get all of those things at the end of her work day. If she does only a part, give her only a few of her chosen loved pastime back.

  I am a parent as well as a teacher for Arizona Connections Academy.  Your suggestion about keeping the TV, etc. off really works!  I have a high school student who lacks motivation. Since I work from home, I'm able to make sure she does not turn her TV on until she has completed her assignments for the day. 
  
  As for different grade levels, this is a tough one.  Do you have more than one computer?  If not, perhaps you could print off some things to do during the day with some of your students, while another is using the computer to complete assignments, and then switch off.

  Does it cost anything to join Connections Academy? And will a computer be provided for my child for the school year? I want to enroll her for this coming August 2011. Which I have already sent off (today) for the enrollment plan. Thank you - Diane:)

  Thanks all for sharing. We have been homeschooling for 3 years through Seton and last year we stumbled on Connections Academy's website. It was not offered in Louisiana. We were disappointed because it offered so much more as in activities. I wrote our governor about this program and now we have Louisiana Connections Academy. We are all studying the program and are excited that Louisiana has decided to join Connections because private homeschooling is costly. For my 11th and 6th grader, we are hoping to have a more exciting year with Connections!

  This will be my first year with online learning. I have an 11th grader and live in LA. Having worked from home in the past, it seems clear that it's important to set up the same school hours at home that she had in school. No phone, tv or music(this one negotiable) from 8 until 3pm. She needs to get up and dressed and not work in pajamas. I think having that schedule will help her deal with the all the new issues of doing her work at home.
