Michael Coone is a 3rd year Master Teacher at Commonwealth Connections Academy. He currently teaches Gifted Literature for grades 6–8. He has a passion for merging technology with education and loves to introduce the students and teachers to new and fun ways to learn. He has been in the School Support teacher spotlight and was also recognized by Connections Academy’s teacher recognition program.

Mike’s educational philosophy is that it is much more important to become a well-rounded independent learner than learning to pass a quiz. He believes that CCA allows him the freedom to develop those important critical thinking skills. If students never make mistakes, they will never really learn anything. He believes that learning should always be an exciting experience.

Why He Cares About Virtual School

Michael is very interested in using technology to inspire students. He also believes that bricks and mortar schools are trying to catch up to what cyber schools are now doing. He also enjoys the challenge involved in educating through the Web. He feels like cyber schools are the future—and wants to stay on the cutting edge of education. He believes that not all students are created equal, and we should work toward making sure everyone gets an individualized and proper education.
