Ria Cheruvu
Ria is an eight-year-old seventh grader at Arizona Connections Academy (ACA). She lives in Gilbert, Arizona. After taking many intellectual evaluation tests, Ria met the criteria of profoundly gifted. Ria has phenomenal memory that enables her to memorize quickly, and she is highly advanced, bilingual, and multitalented for her age. Her mother tells her story below.
“ACA meets Ria’s tremendous growth potential filled with unbounded enthusiasm and satisfies her intellectual quest. Ria enjoys the challenging and accelerated curriculum offered by ACA and one-on-one attention from me as her Learning Coach allows her to immerse in a subject and grasp as many details as possible. ACA is enabling Ria to experience the pure joy of learning at her own pace with unlimited potential. The expert guidance from the teacher (Mrs. Noto) in collaboration with me, her Learning Coach, enabled us to create an academic plan to enrich Ria’s knowledge and set a strong foundation for her future. The ACA staff including the Principal, Vice Principal and support staff is helping us build Ria’s future. We are truly blessed to be a part of Connections Academy!
Ria engages in many extra-curricular activities and stays busy. In her acting career, Ria has acted in a South Indian movie and presently she has two potential upcoming Hollywood movies. Ria plays piano exceptionally, enjoys dancing, singing, swimming, horse riding, golfing, acting, and playing chess.
Ria’s favorite subjects are math, social studies, and science. Ria is profoundly gifted in math as she absorbs mathematical ideas at an enormous pace and she was an expert in complex arithmetic at age six. Ria loves social studies and in the future she wants to become the president of the United States! She has even attended a few political town hall meetings. Ria enjoys science too and is always intrigued by nature and living things. She believes in harmony and is motivated to be an inventor.
Ria says, “I love ACA because it helps me to learn at my own pace and get answers to my millions of questions all in a day by exploring many resources. I love every school day as each day is filled with a combination of exciting activities and the online videos are fun to watch and learn at the same time. The best part is when my teacher, Mrs. Noto, calls and discusses various interesting topics from my subjects. If I get confused with a certain topic, she explains it to me and offers tips to help me learn the topic from different perspectives. It is so amazing to know that I can learn so much from focusing on a single topic. I love all my field trips and the best is when I visit my Principal’s office. In her office she has the biggest shark toy ever and the coolest thing is that I get to play with it whenever I visit her. I love my school!”
