What students are eligible to participate in Arizona Connections Academy for 20011–12?
Any student in grades K–12 who resides in Arizona is eligible to enroll in Arizona Connections Academy (ACA). New Arizona legislation signed by the Governor in July 2009 removes all previous restrictions on the number and type of students who may attend Arizona Connections Academy.
Can kindergartners attend Arizona Connections Academy?
Any Arizona kindergarten student may attend Arizona Connections Academy. New Arizona legislation signed by the Governor in July 2009 removes all previous restrictions on kindergarten enrollment for Arizona Connections Academy.
Does Connections Academy provide services and accommodations for students with disabilities?
For students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Connections Academy provides a continuum of virtual special education services that range from consultation, curriculum accommodation and modification, collaboration with learning coaches and general education teachers, to virtual direct instruction. Connections Academy provides students with IEPs with related services, that may include virtual speech language and virtual occupational therapy, as determined by the IEP team. For eligible students with disabilities who do not require special education, Connections Academy develops (as needed) and implements Section 504 plans that detail appropriate accommodations and modifications.
Who is responsible for reading and grading my student’s work at Arizona Connections Academy?
ACA students’ written assignments and reports are evaluated solely by their assigned certified teachers who review the work and then assign a grade. Other assessments are graded with help from Connexus® the Connections Academy education management system. ACA does not contract out the reading and grading of its students’ work.
